Project No. 341

foote

Brighton

Nestled within its serene surroundings, the Foote residence emerges as a beacon of contemporary living, designed to harness the abundant natural light afforded by its coveted northern orientation across all three levels.

Previously residing in the original house on the site, the owners envisioned a transformation that would accommodate the evolving needs of their young family. The result is a strikingly modern abode that presents a layered façade, seamlessly blending with its level landscape.

At the heart of the Foote's architectural marvel is the swimming pool, around which the house gracefully unfolds in a U-shaped embrace. This central feature not only serves as a visual focal point but also enhances the home's connectivity with natural light, particularly in the open-plan living areas. Ingeniously, even the underground basement basks in sunlight, courtesy of a landscaped glass atrium that cascades light from the main entrance, illuminating the depths below.

The home's interior is a masterclass in thoughtful design, where living spaces are cleverly centralised to foster an atmosphere of closeness and warmth. The tactile journey through the residence reveals a rich palette of materials—concrete, feature brickwork, and timber—each layer adding depth and intrigue to the sensory experience. The modern architectural lines, combined with contemporary styling, imbue the space with a distinctive character and an intimate ambiance, transcending the home's generous scale.

Every detail and spatial arrangement in the Foote residence is meticulously crafted, inviting tranquility and a sense of well-being within its subtly restrained colour scheme. This home is more than just a dwelling; it's a celebration of comfortable living and aesthetic harmony, offering a welcoming space for family and friends to gather, connect, and create lasting memories.
